Shipping, Order Processing and Damages/Defects

Processing Your Order

All in stock items are processed within 24 to 72 hours after an order is received (this does not include weekends or holidays).  Please note -  shipping time is not the same as processing time.  If shipping states 2 days for shipping, this does not necessarily include the processing time of 24 to 72 hours.

If an item is a special order product, it can take an additional 7 to 14 business days for processing (this does not include the shipping time) depending on the stock from the manufacturer .  If you need an item by a specific date, please contact us, we can verify delivery date of that item before your order is placed.

If you need an item urgently, please contact us by phone to see if an item can be processed right away or please leave a notation in the comments section when you place the order.  We will try our best but if we cannot accommodate your request, we will contact you.

Occasionally we, like many businesses, we do run out of stock from time to time. If the arrival of our stock will be more than the 3 day (72hr) processing time for your order, we will notify you via the e-mail address or phone number you entered on the order information.  At that time, you can either opt to wait for the stock to arrive and we will ship the order once the stock arrives or we can cancel and refund the order for you.

Shipping

Occasionally we will offer shipping promotions or reduced rate shipping on our website.  Please note, we reserve the right to limit the quantities for free shipments and/or restrict the shipping areas/provinces. Not all provinces, regions or cities, qualify for promotions or promotional rates. Please call for rates if your area is restricted, we can help you out.

Depending on the item(s) you purchase and the location to which the items will be delivered, different shipping methods will be available. Each shipping method has its own restrictions and charges that will be applied to your order.

You have the option of choosing either Canada Post or UPS as your service options.  On all promotional shipping offers, Expert Island reserves the right to determine the shipping method.  Some of the products we sell are very large and/or over-weighted, (note: these items will not qualify for any shipping promotions and you will be contacted with the shipping cost) and these items will be shipped using the best method available.
At Checkout, you will be prompted to choose a shipping method for your item(s). (Please note that some items may offer only one shipping method.) Shipping costs are dependent on the items in your order and the shipping method you select. Your total shipping charges will automatically compute during Checkout prior to the completion of your order.
Shipping costs for orders placed on this site are based on the weight of the total order. An order containing multiple items typically receives a volume-shipping discount and therefore your total shipping and handling cost may be lower than the sum of individual ship charges appearing in your cart. You will be provided with the total shipping cost for your order during Checkout.
Shipping Surcharges
Some items may be subject to additional shipping and handling surcharges due to:
  • size or weight
  • shipping destination

You will be provided with the total shipping cost for your order during Checkout.
Shipping Times and Processing
Almost all orders ship from our showroom location in Oakville, Ontario (exceptions would be very large or bulk quantity orders which may ship directly from the manufacturer's warehouse)
Shipping times will vary across Canada and below is an approximate delivery time for each province/territory/region.  These times are just to be used as an approximation and can vary depending where in the province you are located; major cities in that province will have shorter delivery times as compared to a rural or hard to reach communities.  Shipping times can be delayed due to holidays, work outages and weather.  If you need an item by a specific date, again, please contact us before placing your order.

If you would like exact delivery dates you can either contact us by e-mail or by phone and we will be happy to provide that information.  Alternatively, you can go to Canada Post Delivery Standard Guide, put in our postal code L6L5K9 and then choose your province and then you will be able to see what the number of delivery days it will take to get to your location with the desired shipping service.
Please note, we are not responsible for delivery delays due to weather events or unforeseen circumstances; such as accidents, closed roads, mechanical issues etc..or incorrect/missing shipping address or postal code information that you provided to us. 


* Note packages that have been returned due to incorrect or missing address information will be subject to additional shipping charges to re-ship the order out again and additionally be charged for the return shipping cost issued by Canada Post.  If you wish to cancel a returned item, please note that any original outgoing shipping charges are not refundable and any additional return shipping cost issued by Canada Post will be deducted from any monies owning on your refund.  Any items that have been returned that were shipped under a "promotional rate" or "free shipping" status, the cost of that original shipment and the return costs issued by Canada Post will be deducted from any monies owing on your refund. If you have questions on this policy, please contact us before ordering.

Please always double check your shipping information before submitting your order. Should you notice an error, please call us immediately, if the order has not shipped out, we will be happy to update the information for you.

Damages/Defects

Damages to the product and or the shipping box need to be reported to us within 48 hours of receipt of the package.  Any report of damages after this time and the product will fall under the manufacturer warranty for service and.or repair.

Please take the time when you receive your order, to open and inspect and test the product. Please make sure to open the packaging with care and consideration, as if there is an issue with the product, we will need the product returned in its original packaging.

To report a damaged or defective item, please give us a call or send us an e-mail.  Please note, pictures of the damage and or description of the defect may be requested and must be provided to complete the claim if requested.
